Ranji Mendle

Ranji Mendle

Ranji Mendle - emigrated to Southern California in 1985 at the age of 40 and settled in Corte Madera. There she created curries, chutneys and spices that were organic, plant-based and vegan well before those ideas became mainstream. Her brand evolved into Ranji’s Curry and became a sell out at local farmers’ markets. Encouraged by her success she applied for and received a loan from the Women’s Initiative for Self Employment. This allowed her to rent a kitchen in San Rafael and a regional brand was born. She says “I was in over 100 stores but my biggest accomplishment was having my cooked curries accepted by Whole Foods.” Now at the age of 78 she is more motivated than ever to follow her passion for cooking and to have people taste the cooking that comes from the bottom of her heart. Her legacy continues with every jar you open.
